- Ma'am i came across a rather new term today... They were called Ionic bonds. What are ionic bonds and why are they made ??
- ionic Bonds are bonds which are formed due to the complete transfer of electrons from one atom to another. They are made to make each of the participating atoms stable.
- We need to get rid of these 2 electrons
- Let us come to an agreement. Why don't you give me your electrons and let us form an ionic bond
- and i want 2 electrons
- I Learnt that ionic bonds are formed by the complete transfer of electrons and that they can be represented through dot structures . Also every atom wants to complete and octate or duplet to become stable !
- So What did you learn today ?
- Today i again came across a new term.... They were called covalent bonds . Now what are covalent bonds and why are they made ??
- Covalent bonds are the bonds formed by sharing of electrons between 2 or more atoms . They are also formed to make an atom stable. Now let us see how!
- Wow i never thought that sharing electrons with carbon and forming a covalent bond . Sharing is Caring has never felt more real .
- I Learnt that covalent bonds are formed by sharing of electrons by all participating atoms and also that like ionic structures we can also express them in form of a dot structure. They share electrons to obtain a stable electronic configuration !
