Storyboard Text

  • Many Germans were angry at the Weimar Republic because of reparations, loss of colonies etc. Therefore, nationalist support parties had grown in Bavaria.
  • The Bavarian state government were also unsupportive of the Weimar party. Because of this, Hitler knew he would have support in Munich.
  • In 1923, Germany's economic state began to worsen. Then, French troops stormed the Ruhr and took control of business. Hitler saw an opportunity to take power at the height of inflation.
  • From 1921 - 1922 the Nazis were influenced by the Fascists, and copied their salute and use of flags.
  • When the Nazis had 20 000 followers and the SA (a private army) Hitler was in a close relationship with the former leader, General Ludendorff. He thought the general could persuade the army to support the party, he believed this would make takeover possible.
