- Of course, My name is Stephen and when I was in Harvard University I also had to write lots of papers.
- Hey, My name is Daniel and im doing a paper about you for forensics class. Can I ask you a couple questions?
- Im mostly known as a mathematician that has designed many algorithms as well as develop the MSA program.
- What do most people know you as?
- My most popular algorithm was BLAST used for sequence analysis of nucleotides and proteins. What is one of your most popular algorithms?

- During my undergraduate years of college my interest grew and I started reading books and working in laboratories in Rockefeller University helping to write codes.
- When did your interest in biology begin?
- I received my P.h.D from M.I.T in 1987 and my A.B from Harvard college in 1979. They were both for mathematics.
- Where did you receive your P.h.D from?
- Anyone with a computer and internet access can use it. Students in biology class can go onto the website and enter their data to get results
