- Jesus of Nazareth, was crucified...
- Two of Jesus's followers were on their way to a village called Emmaus, 7 miles from Jerusalem
- You can't believe everything the prophets say...
- Jesus came up to them, and asked about what they were talking about, but they did not recognise him
- You can stay with us!
- Thank you!
- One of the followers, Cleopas, told him about Jesus of Nazareth, a prophet who was going to set Israel free but was instead crucified. His tomb had apparently been opened and he was alive, but when they had a look they did not see them.
- Wasn't it like a fire burning in us when he talked to us on the the road and explained the Scriptures to us?
- Then Jesus told them that they were foolish for believing everything the prophet said. He needed to suffer so that he could enter his glory. He explained to them everything written about him in the Scriptures.
- When they came near to the village, the two followers told Jesus to stay with them for the night as it was getting dark.
- Jesus sat down with them to eat and broke the bread and gave it to them. They suddenly realised that it was Jesus but he then disappeared from their sight.
