- 6th Grade - Explorations in Technology 1 Students will participate in activities to learn appropriate keyboarding techniques and basic computer skills by creating and editing graphics, adding graphics into multimedia presentations, and using the Internet as a resource to gather information and to represent that information visually, in writing, or verbally. Students will be introduced to Inventor software, real-world technologies, and team based activities.
- 7th Grade – Explorations in Technology 2 – Design & Modeling In the Design and Modeling unit, students will learn sketching techniques, use descriptive geometry as a component of design, measurement and computer modeling. Students brainstorm, research, develop ideas, create models, test and evaluate design ideas, and communicate solutions.
- 8th Grade – Explorations in Technology 3 – Magic of Electrons and Automation and Robotics Students explore the science of electricity, the behavior and parts of atoms, circuit design and sensing devices. Students acquire knowledge and skills in basic circuitry design and explore the impact of electricity on our lives.
- In the Automation and Robotics unit, students trace the history, development and influence of automation and robotics. They learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation and computer control systems.
- 8th Grade – Explorations in Technology 3 – Medical Detectives Students explore the biomedical sciences through hands-on projects and labs that require them to solve a variety of medical mysteries. Students investigate medical careers, vital signs, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, genetic testing and participant in a DNA crime scene.
- 8th Grade - Video Production Students explore how to tell a story using storyboards, images, music, appropriate lighting and develop correct microphone usage as they develop their stories. Music used within videos must be royalty free or be original works.
