Storyboard Text

  • After fighting in a battle, Macbeth meets 3 witches. They tell him he will be Thane of Cawdor andKing of Scotland. They also predict his friend Banquo will be the father of a long line of kings.
  • Is this a dagger I see before me?
  • A messenger arrives and tells Macbeth he will become the Thane of Cawdor. The prediction must be true! King Duncan is coming to Macbeth's castle tonight!
  • Macbeth tells his wife about the witches. She is an evil and ambitious woman who tells Macbeth that King Duncan must be murdered so Macbeth can become king!
  • Lady Macbeth gets the king's grooms drunk so they sleep soundly as Macbeth murders the king. She cannot murder King Duncan herself and calls Macbeth a coward to goad him into committing the deed. Macbeth has a vision of a ghostly knife before the murder.
  • King Duncan's sons Malcolm and Donalbain flee from Glamis Castle in fear for their lives. Macbeth is crowned king of Scotland but begins to suffer from guilt and paranoia.
  • To try and stop Banquo's prediction coming true, Macbeth sends assassins to kill his friend Banquo and his son Fleance. Banquo is killed but Fleance escapes.
  • At the coronation feast, Macbeth sees Banquo's ghost. He panics and shouts at the ghost. The guests think he is unwell but Lady Macbeth tells them to ignore his behaviour as he often does things like this.
  • Macbeth goes to see the witches again. This time they are even more frightening. Macbeth hears from spirits who tell him more about his future.
  • Spirit 1 says, "Beware Macduff!"Spirit 2 says, "No man born of woman can harm you!"Spirit 3 says, "You will rule until Birnam Wood marches to Dunsinane!"
  • All hail, Macbeth!All hail!
  • When Macbeth returns to Glamis he sends assassins to kill all of Macduff's family. Macduff isn't there because he has joined Malcolm's army.
  • Macbeth knows that the army is coming. Lady Macbeth goes insane and imagines her hands are covered in blood which she cannot wash off. She takes her own life.
  • In the end: Birnam wood comes to Dunsinane because Malcolm orders his soldiers to carry branches. Macbeth is slain by Macduff (who was born by Caesarian Section). Macbeth's head is put on a spear outside the castle.
