- Manager: Hey Mark, could you file your paperwork from this quarter by November 1stMark: *has a combustive and volatile reaction to Sam’s request* I don’t have time for this! Why don’t you bother Sherry instead?!
- Devil conscience reassures plan
- Mark leaves, and Sam sits in her office, pondering how she should address Mark’s uncharacteristic outburst.*Her devilish conscience appears*Devil: You’re the manager! You can resolve this issue this instant, just use a power-based approach and force him to complete the paperwork!
- Sam walks up with arms crossed using an aggressive tone
- Sam imagines using this approach, and how her conversation with Mark would go.Sam: Mark, I’m your boss. You must respect me and do as I say, otherwise you’re fired.Mark: If you’re going to order me around, I might as well quit!
- Sam ignores Mark's feelings and dismisses him
- The devil encourages Sam to pursue the power-based approach, and advises her to use a more aggressive and intimidating tone.
