  • Mr. Ramesey: Kids here is how to design an experiment. After you write your testable question you need to identify the variables.
  • Designing an Experiment
  • After you identify your variables you will need to start writing your procedure. A procedure is basically just you writing out very specifically all of the steps. Make sure you are very careful that anyone can follow your experiment.
  • 3. Pick up the knife and stick it in the jar
  • 1. Twist the jar to the left
  • 2. Take the lid off and put it down on the table
  • After you have written your procedure very carefully and specifically you will do your experiment. For example, if you are making a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich
  • You will need to find the independent variable the dependent variable and then figure out all of your controlled variables.
  • Once you have collected all of your data sit down and observe it.
  • When writing your procedure you should be very careful and very specific. Imagine the person doesn't know anything about anything and you have to explain it.
  • After this you should make a data chart with all of your information to sort it all out. You can come up with conclusions by looking at your data
  • Follow the steps very carefully and see what your result is,
  • Now you have designed an experiment
  • Try and group it or put it in categories
  • In this case she was testing if the kids liked peanut butter or jelly more. She had to do things like make the sandwiches give them out, etc. Jelly was the winner
  • Its a simple and easy process that is easy to follow
  • Yay You have designed and experiment
