Storyboard Text

  • King Claudius had a discussion with Hamlet, telling him that he shouldn't be grieving over his father's death. He told Hamlet that death is inevitable and that it would be a waste and a "fault to nature" to grieve.
  • To do obsequious sorrow. But to persever in obstinate condolement is a course of impious stubbornness. ’Tis unmanly grief.
  • Hamlet encounters the ghost of King Hamlet, his father. During this encounter, King Hamlet tells Hamlet to avenge him by killing King Claudius, who did in fact kill the previous king.
  • Is by a forgèd process of my death rankly abused. But know, thou noble youth, the serpent that did sting thy father’s life now wears his crown.
  • King Claudius and Gertrude eventually invites Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to the castle. Also, Polonius arrives at the castle. Hamlet begins to put a play together and in this scene, one of the actors performs a monologue. When everyone leaves and Hamlet is left alone, Hamlet begins to speak to himself. He comes up with the plan to set up a trap with Claudius, where he will get the king to watch the play and watch his reaction to see if Claudius did kill his father or not.
  • I’ll have grounds more relative than this. The play’s the thing wherein I’ll catch the conscience of the king.
  • Hamlet and Gertrude get into an argument in her chamber over the fact that she married Claudius after King Hamlet died. Gertrude eventually calls out for help, which leads to Polonius calling for help since he was overhearing the whole situation. Thinking that it was Claudius behind the behind the mirror, he shot through it, only to find out that he killed Polonius instead.
  • O Hamlet, speak no more! Thou turn’st mine eyes into my very soul, and there I see such black and grained spots as will not leave their tinct.
  • After Polonius's death, his daughter Ophelia becomes mad with grief. She begins to dance around and sing random songs. Eventually, Laertes arrives to the castle enraged, which causes Claudius to try and soothe his anger while stating that he himself had no responsibility for Polonius's death. When he finds out what state his sister Ophelia is in, Laertes becomes angry again
  • There’s rue for you, and here’s some for me; we may call it herb of grace o’ Sundays. You must wear your rue with a difference. There’s a daisy. I would give you some violets, but they withered all when my father died. They say he made a good end.
  • After Laertes found out that Hamlet did in fact kill Polonius, Laertes decides that he wants to duel Hamlet. King Claudius says that if Hamlet lands the first or second hit, then Claudius will drink to Hamlet's health and give him the wine with a gem in it, which is actually just poison. After hitting Laertes once, Hamlet declines the wine and hits Laertes again. Gertrude drinks the wine and is poisoned. Laertes then hits Hamlet with the sword and draws blood and poisons Hamlet. Hamlet then wounds Laertes with his own sword and poisons him.
  • I stand aloof, and will no reconcilement till by some elder masters, of known honor, I have a voice and precedent of peace to keep my name ungored. But till that time I do receive your offered love like love and will not wrong it.
