- "Mr. Linden, do you think i can borrow one of your books for the day?"

- "There has to be a logical explanation."

- Carol sees Mrs. Linden for the first time at the store. She wants to go to his library. She sneaks to read a page he is on.
- Carol was disturbed by troubled dreams. She dreamt of Mr. Lindens life and all the books in his library.
- Carol goes to Mr. Linden's library to read the book again. She reads the same page but the words are different.
- Carol and Mr. Linden were sitting at the table when he noticed what book she was reading. Mr. Linden got quiet and said she would not like that book.
- "I am. I am interested."
- "That's not a very good book. You wouldn't be interested."
- She read a sentimental story about Estaban and a dolphin. Estaban's swimming accomplishment filled him with pride.
- Mr. Linden died and the townspeople an d sailors came. His house was sold and his books were donated. Carol got to keep the book she wanted.
