- In this opening scene Montresor runs into Fortunato and greets him.
- Hey Fortunato! It's nice to see you.
- Nice to see you too.
- Montresor then starts to talk about the Amontillado that he has at his house.
- You know I just got a new shipment of Amontillado
- Oh, really.
- Montresor tells Fortunato to stay at the carnival and he'll have Luchesi taste the Amontillado.
- I'll have Luchesi taste it. I don't want to bother you
- Before Montresor leaves, Fortunaot insists that it's ok and he wants to go and taste the Amontillado.
- Wait! I know i'm better than Luchesi, let me go instead. I'll be fine
- Montresor agrees to Fortunato tasting the Amontillado.
- Ok, fine you come and taste the Amontillado
- Montresor and Fortunato arrive at Montresor's empty house.
