  • In 1767, the British had set the Townshend act on the colonists, setting taxes on the things that the colonists couldn't make it themselves such as paint, glass, paper, and tea. This act also allowed the Britain to search people's homes for smuggled goods. The colonists responded this act by boycotting and protesting.
  • In 1770, an incident between the colonists and the Britain known as the Boston Massacre. Where the Britain fired in a group of colonists that were teasing them, in this event five colonists were killed.
  • In 1773, the Boston Tea Party was the colonists response to the tea act that was given to them by the British Parliament, that they would have to buy tea only from the Britain. The colonists dressed up as Mohawk Indians, snuck in the British ships and dumped the tea into the Boston Harbor.
