  • 1.Vitamins and minerals are essential substances our bodies need to develop and function properly to keep us healthy.
  • 2. Provide a variety of fresh foods from all the five different food groups.3.Water soluble vitamins and Fat soluble vitamins.
  • 4. Vitamin C is needed for healthy skin, gums, teeth, bones and cartilage and assists with wound healing and resistance to infection.5.B3 (niacin)
  • 6.In early stages of pregnancy it can prevent neural tube defects.7.Some food sources are Oily fish (salmon),Full cream dairy products, butter, Orange, yellow and green fruits and vegetables (carrots, spinach, mango, broccoli)
  • 8. The vitamin is K (phylloquinone)9. A deficiency in Vitamin D can cause rickets, which increases the chance of a child having fractures.
  • 10. An important function of Calcium is for building strong healthy bones and teeth.11. It promotes normal thyroid function and helps brain function and normal growth. Foods we can get it from are seafood, seaweed, iodised salt, bread (through iodised salt).
