  • West Africans were sold as slaves in various places. Mostly in South Carolina. The African-American families were split up and sold to different Europeans. European people bid on the African, soon to be slaves.
  • Once the slaves were put into slavery, some of them worked on fields. They had to work on cutting and harvesting crops. As well as growing plants and produce. Slaves were put out in the hot, blazing sun. Finally, slaves had to work non-stop.
  • Other slaves worked in houses. These were mostly female slaves. They were forced to do things like dishes, laundry, and more. Also, they were constantly yelled at by their European owners. The worst part is that no slaves got paid money for doing these tasks.
  • When Europeans came to take the West Africans as slaves, some of them were killed. The Africans tried to fight back with items they found, but sadly got caught. They were forced on the ship leading them back to the American colonies. The settlers also stole some of the riches and property that the Africans owned.
  • When settlers brought the slaves back to their land, most of the slaves were killed for various reasons. One reason why the were killed is because they weren't working hard enough on the ship. This got the settlers angry. They would throw the slaves overboard. Finally, the European/American settlers threw more slaves overboard because they were sick and didn't want to catch whatever the slaves had.
  • Once slaves were brought to the American colonies from West Africa, they were sold. European slave dealers sold slaves for guns, jewelry, copper, iron, and other goods. Slave dealers kept tract of the people that bought the slaves and what they gave. Slaves were then transported to their new owner's house and immediately put to work.
