  • Do you have a suitable plan to undertake this research?
  • We have the required procedures and methods in place to answer our research question regarding the vaccine’s safety, efficacy, sustainability and cost. The statistician will guide us on sampling.
  • Mr Mayor, we know how this pathogen behaves and we are glad to inform you that we have a formulation for a potential vaccine.
  • We have a sub-study to assess motivation for vaccine study participation that will run in parallel with the clinical trial in a form of in-depth interview using open-ended questions. A purposeful sample of the first 15 participants who enroll in the vaccine study will be selected for this qualitative phase
  • The study design will be a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled vaccine study running over six months, with 600 participants. We will use questionnaires. The inclusion criteria is males and females, 18 years and above

  • We will allocate unique numbers to each participant partaking in the study to protect their identity and maintain confidentiality. The results will be disseminated to scientific community and study participants
  • Primary data will be collected on source notes and later transferred into a password protected Electronic Data Capturing system for analysis
  • UP2022 Virus pandemic noted. The Research Team has been working around the clock to identify a potential vaccine for clinical trials and come with a research concept
  • For the quantitative phase, we will use descriptive statistical analysis, through collection of data, we will be able to interpret, analyse and summarize the data and present it in the form of charts, graphs or tables
  • For the qualitative aspect of the study, data collected will be categorized into themes to capture recurring themes. Electronic copies of the transcripts and the audio files will be imported into the qualitative analysis software, and will be diligently compared to assure the accuracy of the transcripts
  • The research team is briefing the Mayor on the proposed protocol which will outline study design, sampling and procedures to be performed to ensure consistency of the study and accuracy of results.
  • Thank you for the support. The study report is out. The data indicates that the vaccine is 90% efficacious against the UP2022 Virus. There were no safety concerns and SAHPRA has authorized product use.
  • We thank our scientists on the well-planned executed study. My office will ensure a roll out of the vaccine to allow for herd immunity.
