- The Elder apologizes to the community for making them nervous. She also apologizes directly to Jonas for the same.

- The chief Elder list the qualities that Jonas That qualify him to be The Receiver of Memory. The qualities are intelligence, integrity, courage, wisdom, and capacity to see beyond.
- Jonas confirmers that he may have the ability to see beyond. The Chief Elder upon hearing this notifies the community that Jonas will be the next Receiver of Memory.
- Jonas was excited but at the same time nervous. This is because he did not know exactly what would happen.
