“I was not sleeping you are not waking me” (line 67)
Prologue- The people need Oedipus; he answers the call letting the people know that he’s working on it.
“You see how all the ages of our people cling to your altar steps” (line 17,18)
Scene 1 – Teiresias tells Oedipus that the killer of the king is Theban. Hinting that Oedipus killed the king.
“Who came to his father’s bed, wet with his father’s blood.” (Line 243)
“But it will soon be shown that he is a Theban” (line 236)
“I killed him. I killed them all.” (Line 288,289)
Scene 2- Oedipus discovers that he killed the king not knowing that the king was his father yet.
“Apollo said through his prophet that I was the man Who should marry his own mother, shed his father’s blood.” (Line 81-83)
Scene 3- Apollo tell Oedipus that he killed his father and married his mother
Scene 4 – Oedipus realizes that he was the one that killed his father.
“Ah God! It was true!” (Line 66,67)
“For the kind ripped from her gown the golden brooches that were her ornament, and raised them, and plunged them down. Straight into his own eyeballs.” (Line 43-45)
Exodus – Oedipus blinds himself after finding his mom hanging, dead.
