- I was a clever, determined young kid, determined to take on the world.
- I ended up graduating with honors in high school and college.
- It was the summer after college that I was drafted to fight in the Vietnam War.
- I was determined not to fight, nearly fleeing my duties in the process.
- I ultimately decided that I had no choice but to fight.
- I lost many good friends and was left wounded during the Battle of Khe Sanh.
- I returned home with PTSD and isolated myself from the rest of the world.
