Cause #4: After the crash, panic made a bad situation worse. In the days after the stock market crash, many people wanted to take their money out of the bank. However, they couldn't because the bank officials had invested the money into the market. This worsened the financial situation.

Cause #4 cont.: Some people say that the financial press had a big role in the panic that occured after the stock market crashed. The day before Black Thursday, the Washington Post had the headline "Huge Selling Waves Creates Near Panic as Stocks Collapse", and The New York Times said "Prices of Stocks Crash in Heavy Liquidation."

Black Thursday was the day that the stock market crashed. It was October 24, 1929.
These four points are some of the problems that caused the stock market to crash in 1929. Because of the crash, many investors lost all of their money, and many banks and companies went bankrupt.
