  • 5.Dairy farmingIt is rearing of dairy cattle to produce milk and other milk products.Modern machinery and scientific methods of breeding are used.Large labour force is required to look after the cattle and huge amount of capital needs to be invested.
  • 6. Orchard farmingThis type of farming has developed in the mediterranean region. Large orchards are found in south european countries.. Viticulture or grape cultivtion is also a speciality of the mediterranean regions. Grapes are used for wine production.
  • 7.Market gardening and horticulture-This type of agriculture includes the cultivation of vegies, fruits and flowers solely for the urban markets. these gardens are located in the outskirts. These are small in size and are intensively cultivated. Irrigation is used and soil fertility is maintained. Lot of manual labour are required.Market gardening is also called as truck farming as fresh vegetables are transported to the markets by trucks.
  • 2. Plantation agriculture-It is practiced in the tropical and sub tropical regions.It was introduced by the European nations who had colonised these countries. It is a commercial type of farming with specialisation of a single crop.The farms ARE huge and are called estates. A large amount of capital is invested and the farming methods are efficient . Machinery and fertlisers are used wherever required. A lot of manual labour is required. The crop is processed before being sent to market for sale. The estates are well connected to ports and railheads. Th entire agricultural system is managed as a factory
  • 3. Mixed agriculture-In this type of agriculture, crop cultivation and animal rearing are practiced on the same farm.The farm size is moderate and farming is done intensively. The use of modern machinery is required. Crop rotation is practiced here. Farmers like me grow cereal crops like wheat, maize and barley. We raise cattle for beef and sheep for mutton. Pigs and poultry are also kept.
  • 4. Pastoral agriculture-This agriculture means rearing of livestock. It is practiced in the temperate grasslands.. Animals are kept in huge farms is called ranches.They are fed on natural grasses and fodder crops. Pastoral farming is highly specialised and are separate departments for every stage of animal production.
