- Hello class, today we will be learning about decimals.
- Mia, How do you multiply decimals?
- Multiply in whole numbers ignoring the decimal.count the total decimal places in both numbers then add it and starting from the right count the same decimal places and place the point there.If multiplying by 10,100,1000then first put as many zeroes in the number. Then from the right move how many digits were there before the number.
- Rosie, how do you divide decimals?
- Place the decimal point in the quotient directly above the decimal point. Then divide as if you were dividing whole numbers. If dividing by 10,100,1000. If by 10 the decimal point moves by 1 place. If by 100 the decimal point moves by 2 places. If by 1000 the decimal point moves by 3 places.
