- Slim and George discuss Lennie.
- Oh , really? guess I’ll have him get one of my pups, just makin’ sure he ain’t gonna cause no trouble.
- Yeah he pulled a girls red dress thinkin’ it was some rabbit or pup! hella dumb of a fella ‘ but crazy strong.
- Carlson complains about candy’s old dog.
- Alright alright! tomorro, lets wait till tommorra
- Candy! Your dog stinks! since when has he taken a shower, got no teeth, damn near blind! get rid of him!
- Curley comes in and asks where his wife is.
- Nah, Don't know
- Me Neither
- You guys ever seen my wife!?

- Slim and George discuss a bit about Lennie’s past , basically what he did in weed , and how his mental disability gives him the mentality of a child , which is why he likes to tend young animals at adulthood.
- George and Lennie’s American dream.
- Yeah and we'd have our own crops, eat our own food, and we get to have a small place for you to tend the rabbits...
- Carlson comes in bursting about Candy’s dog , and how he’s physically weak and is not gonna help Candy in any sort of way because of how old Candy’s dog is, which leads to the dog getting shot after Slim comes in agreeing.
- Slim , Whit , and Curley come in angry cause of Curley’s suspicion.
- No!I wasn't with her! quit asking me about her!
- You always suspecting me with that hag! like won't you shut up!?
- Curley comes into the bunkhouse with a bit of anger in him because of how the story just explains how he bursts in, the others claim they have no clue to where she have been as she never came here.
- Curley vents his rage on Lennie daydreaming.
- Help me out George! he's beating me up!
- No son-of-a-brat is gonna laugh at me!
- George and Lennie discuss about their dream , and how they are gonna work independently and have their own farm , leaving Lennie happy as he begs George to specifically explain about his dream.

- Slim , Whit , and Curley come back to the bunkhouse only to see Slim and Whit angry about how Curley constantly thinks they’d be with his wife , making Curley apologize.
- Alright guys, I apologize.
- As Lennie laughs and smiles about his “American dream”, Curley assumes Lennie was laughing about Curley’s situation , so Curley goes ahead and starts beating up Lennie until Lennie crushes his hand under George’s command.
