- Once there was a man named Job. He had 7 sons and 3 daughters. He also owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 oxen, 500 asses and many slaves. he was one of the richest in the land. He was also very religious.
- The Pain
- One day, when the sons of God came before Jehovah, Satan came too. Jehovah said to Satan, "Have you seen my servant Job? For there is no man like him, blameless and upright, who worships god and avoids evil." But Satan answered, "But I bet if you took away all he had he would surely curse to your face!" Jehovah then said, "All he has is in your power, only do not harm Job himself.
- Not giving up
- The next day, 4 slaves ran to Job to tell him that all his animals and other slaves had been killed and his sons and daughters had all died when a house fell on them. Job then rose, tore off his robe, shaved his head and worshipped to Jehovah. But he never cursed him at all.
- Reward
- Back with Jehovah, Satan said, "If you put your hand out now and touch his bone and flesh then he will curse you." Jehovah answered, "He is in your power, but do not kill him." So Satan gave Job leprosy so terrible that he took a piece of broken pottery and began scraping himself. His wife said to him, "Are you still holding True? Curse God and die!" But Job said, "If we accept prosperity from God then why not accept misfortune."
- When three of Job's friends heared of all his trouble they came to visit him. But when they saw him in the distance they didn't even recognise him. Then they sat with him for 7 days for they saw he was in trouble. They said he must have sinned to God but Job said he had done nothing wrong. Then God appeared and told Job of all the things he had created. God said to them, "Take 7 bulls and 7 rams and offer them to Job for yourselves. Job will pray for you and I will accept his prayer for you."
- As Job prayed, God returned all of Job's things. He had twice as many sheep, twice as many donkeys, twice as many camels, twice as many oxen and his 7 sons and 3 daughters. His daughters were the most beautiful in the land. After all he had gone through, Job lived to be 140 and he loved and praised God every day.
