Langston was one of many enslaved African Americans during the Revolutionary War in 1775. Being a slave in Boston, his master treated him horribly. As a result, he wanted to fight for the Justification of Complaints and Freedom.
We have a battle against the British soon. And if you will help us fight, we will give you your freedom.
Langston was willing to do anything he needed to for his Freedom. So made a deal with the Patriots stating that if he were to help them fight in The Battle of Bunker Hill, they would give him his freedom.
Its a deal.
So then he fought in the bloodiest battle in the Revolutionary War. Battle of Bunker Hill. Unfortunately, the Patriots could not hold their own against the British. And the British took the crown.
As a result, Langston survived. But the Patriots betrayed him. They treated him horribly and made him their slave. Countless hours of work and labor, worse than before.
Get back to work!
I'm here because I heard you were welcoming African American slaves.
Langston felt helpless till he heard that the British were welcoming African American slaves. And if he were to side with them... He would get his freedom. Since he had nothing to lose, he sided with the British.
Indeed, if you side with us, we will give you your freedom.
So there he was, from an African American slave to a British soldier, from a Patriot to now siding with the enemy. Doing anything he needed to do for his Freedom and Justification of Complaints. He was now a soldier fighting with the British to get his freedom.
