  • Well Jake, photosynthesis is the process that helps plants transform light energy into chemical energy which is then use to help the plant grow.
  • Todays lesson:-Cell Respiration -Photosynthesis
  • What is photosynthesis?
  • 6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O2The reactants, carbon dioxide and water molecules, are converted by light energy captured by chlorophyll into a glucose molecule and six oxygen molecules, the products.
  • Glucose and oxygen are then used in a process called cell respiration. Cell respiration converts oxygen and glucose into water and carbon dioxide. Water and carbon dioxide are the by products and ATP is the energy that is created.
  • What happens to the glucose and oxygen?
  • C6H12O6 + 6O2 → 6CO2 + 6H20Cellular respiration works in three main steps, glycolysis, Krebs cycle and the electron transport. Mitochondria is where cell respiration takes place.
