King Tut has just died and now we are going to go through the steps of mummification!
First his body needs to be ferried to the other side of the Nile where the priests are waiting to start the mummification process. Quick fact: mummification takes around seventy days!
Now I must cut the Pharoh's body and remove the stomach, lungs, intestine and liver. We leave the heart because the dead will use it to see if he can go to the afterlife. Then the removed organs are put in special jars. Each jar is protected by a certain God.
The Priests then use Natron(a kind of salt) and put it on and inside Tut's body so that the salt can dry out all the water from his body. It takes 40 days. The skin then becomes rough and dry like a feather.
We remove the salt .Then we stuff the body with scented rags so we don't smell the body. We also put charms and gold and scarabs in every layer of wrapping.
Now that we finished wrapping the mummy, we must coat it with a glue-like substance so it's as hard as a shell. We then must leave his body to dry for 15 days. His body is now ready for the funeral.
