- Unfortunately, Mr. Jones, awakened by the commotion, jumped out of bed, convinced that a fox had burst into the yard.
- To have sung such a song aroused the animals to emotion, fever and frenzy. Sage the Elder had not sung the last verse before all had joined in unison

- Together, the animals managed to drive out their tyrant. Mr. Jones was more than angry, he had lost everything
- He grabbed the rifle, which he always kept in a corner of the bedroom, and in the darkness unloaded a solid volley of lead. The animals were all the more motivated to rebel
