Spēja atpazīt neveselīgas attiecības studentiem var šķist viegla lieta, kamēr viņi neatrodas par upuri. Kļūstot par manipulācijas upuri, kādam liek uzlikt aizklājumus un attaisnot uzvedību. Viņi pat var justies vainīgi un vainīgi agresora izturēšanās izraisīšanā. Labs preventīvs pasākums, lai kļūtu par upuri, ir tas, lai studenti izveidotu mērķus un cerības uz attiecībām.

Turklāt tas ļauj studentiem saprast, ka ikviens var būt upuris vai agresors. Studentiem ir svarīgi neveidot sevi vai savus vienaudžus par upuriem vai agresoriem nevienā no situācijām.
