  • First lets do a quick overview of what Mier y Teran did!

  • A general in Mexico, in 1827 Mier y Teran was sent to Texas to do a commissionand report on American influence in Texas, their general attitude towards revolution, and much more.
  • Go to Texas and inform us of their attitude. We don't feel like dealing with rebellion.

  • So he stayed in Texas for about 2 years, traveling around and gathering intel about the country.
  • The United States is so much better than Mexico! Texas wants to be independent like them!

  • Mier then went back to Mexico to inform the officials that American influence was very high in Texas. He suggested they take immediateaction to stop just influence.

  • The Americans are making them want to rebel. They don't really like us.

  • His information was used in making the law of April6th, 1830, which prohibited slavery in Texas and didn't allow Americans to travel into Texas.
