Slide: 1
Federalists wanted a strong national government to provide, order manage the country's money.
NO! NO! NO!
We need one strong national government to unite the states. it's the only way to be secure and pay debts!!!
That power belongs to the states. A strong central government will become a tyrant !
Anti-federalists feared a powerful central government. They believed the states should hold most power to protect the people's freedom.
Slide: 2
Anti-Federalists demanded a Bill of Rights. They argued that without a specific list of protected freedoms, the government would abuse its power
This constitution lists government powers, but it doesn't list our rights! We must add a Bill of Rights to protect the people!
It is absolutely unnecessary! The constitution already limits the government. Listing rights might imply those are the only rights we have.
Federalists thought a Bill of Rights wasn't needed . They believed the constitution's structure itself protected liberty
Slide: 3
Massachusetts will ratify the constitution... but only if you promise to add a Bill of Rights immediately after..

To win support, Federalists eventually agreed to add a Bill of Rights.
Though reluctant, Hamilton and other federalists accepted the promise of a Bill of Rights to ensure the strong new government was created.
