  • What is wrong? Why are you upset?
  • Because of COVID-19, I lost my job and I am unable to support my family.
  • Everything will be alright. I also lost my job, but I recovered.
  • How did you overcome the depression you faced?
  • I spoke to a therapist about it. I suggest you do the same.
  • Ok I will go to Dr. Bill tomorrow.
  • James is upset and emotional. His friend, Amanda, notices this and asks him why he is upset. He tells her about his situation and how he is struggling.
  • Everything will be alright James. I have had plenty of clients come with the same issue.
  • Due to COVID-19, I have lost my job, and I am unable to support my family. I am suffering from anxiety, stress, and I can't sleep at night.
  • Amanda tells James that she struggled with the same issue. James asks her how she overcame the challenges that faced her as he is also depressed.
  • The best treatment which I can provide for you is to regularly speak with me, and talk to support groups, such as Lifeline and Beyond Blue.
  • What can I do Dr. Bill?
  • As they are walking, Amanda suggests to James that he should go to see a therapist to talk about his issue. He agrees to this and tells her that he will immediately seek help. Therapists can assist you in learning how to change your ideas and habits for the better. Interpersonal therapy focuses on how you interact with people and can help you improve your personal connections.
  • Also, remember that your family and friends will always be there for you. Open up to them and share your thoughts and feelings.
  • Thank you Dr. Bill for listening, providing advice and guiding me on how to manage my depression.
  • James goes to see the therapist (Dr Bill) to talk about his issue. Dr Bill asks James a number of questions to get a better understanding of his issues and his emotional and mental status.
  • James asks Dr Bill what he can do to manage his depressions. Dr Bill explains to James the different methods there are to manage his mental health issue, including speaking to Beyond Blue, and Lifeline, as well as regular conversations with him. Lifeline is Australia's leading suicide prevention service and helps people with depression. Beyond Blue's work is aimed at achieving an Australian community that understands depressions and anxiety, empowering all Australians, at any life stage, to seek help.
  • In this scene, Dr Bill tells James to open up to his family members so that they can support him whenever he has an issue. By talking to family and friends, they are there to support you and encourage you and to help you get through the issues which you face.
