- Caliban claims Stephano as his new master

- Prospero uses his magic to create a storm which causes the boat carrying Alonso the king of Naples along with his son Ferdinand and more to sink. They wash up on the shore of an island...the same island sheltering Prospero and his daughter Miranda.
- Caliban meets Trinculo and his friend Stephano who have washed up on the island from the storm. After drinking and talking Caliban claims Stephano as his new master and plots with him to kill Prospero and marry Miranda.
- Miranda comes to Ferdinand as he is slaving s away stacking logs as Prospero has ordered him to do. The two express their love for one another and agree to marriage.
