Unknown Story

I’m one of the twelve slaves. All twelve of us were on a journey from America to Canada. We were also hoping to find food, clothes, and shelter. When we were walking, the other slaves and I felt really tired and hungry. We also felt really unsafe, because there was a bounty for our capture. The twelve of us were worried that we would be caught. Harriet kept encouraging us by saying things such as “there is a man waiting for us to give us lots of food.” At that point, some of us, myself included, had the idea to separate.
As soon as we stopped, randomly, Harriet pulled out a gun. She said, “we go, or we die.” This is when we realized how serious she was. We had to keep going. We were basically out of hope so we kept walking. Suddenly Harriet collapsed from exhaustion. We had to keep walking because we were already close so it be no point to walk back.
When we finally reached there. A mysterious man was waiting for us. We could smell the food from the house. It smelled really good. He said we could come in. There was a ginormous amounts of food. We were starving. So most of us consumed the food like a demon. Some of the slaves said, “Holy! This food is really good!” We realized that we are completely free. We could get jobs, and have our own house with our own personal belongings.
