leiodes begs for mercy to Odysseus, claiming that he was a priest and that we was trying to steer the suitors from doing wrong. but he dose not state that he didn't want to be their, proving to Odysseus that he is not truly innocent, and that he was as guilty as the other suitors and did not deserve Odysseus' mercy
Odysseus says that if he were a priest than he should have prayed that Odysseus were to never return home to Ithaca. Odysseus than gruesomely kills Leiodes. saying that if he was a priest than he was praying that Odysseus would never return to Ithaca. he kills Leiodes mid sentence, his face still in motion as he was killed.
after Odysseus kills Leiodes , Telemachus remembers of Mendon, the only one who was truly innocent out of the suitors. Telemachus tells Odysseus to spare Mendon and not to kill him as he has done with the other suitors. he tells Odysseus that Mendon was truly innocent and tells him to not kill him, vouching for Mendon. Mendon being the only one that was forced to be there.
Mendon hears Telemachus telling Odysseus that Mendon was innocent. Mendon reveals that he was hiding under a table and wrapping himself up in animal hide. Mendon runs to Odysseus and goes to his knees and tells him that Telemachus was right and that he was brought here agents his will and forced to play for the suitors. Odysseus shows him mercy and tells him to be grateful for that Telemachus has
Odysseus tells Telemachus to fetch the nurse Eurycleia from upstairs after coming to the conclusion that some of his woman have wronged him and helped the suitor, Eurycleia comes down and is ecstatic that Odysseus has returned home, happy that her master has finally returned home, she asks if Odysseus wants her to wake his wife, he tells her to let her sleep as he handles the things down in the hall.she tells him that he was right, that there are disloyal woman in this house.
Eurycleia brings down the woman who have wronged him, forcing the woman to clean up the massacre, the corpses of the suitors of witch they helped. after bringing down the woman and having them clean up the massacre, Odysseus gives the honor of disposing of the disloyal servants to Telemachus. Telemachus leads them outside and proceed to give them one of the most pathetic form of execution, the death sentence that is being hanged by the neck until death
