  • January 21, 1793: The execution of Louis XVI by guillotine." At Revolution Square", formerly Place Louis XV, and renamed Place de la Concorde in 1795. He was executed because he was being convicted of conspiracy with foreign powers. Louis was sentenced to death, "within twenty–four hours." He was convicted and condemned to death by a narrow majority.
