- Classical conditioning (also known as Pavlovian or respondent conditioning) is learning through association and was discovered by Pavlov, a Russian physiologist. In simple terms; two stimuli are linked together to produce a new learned response in a person or animal.
- The dogs are waiting for their owners to come home.
- When the garage door opens the dogs most likely won't pay any attention to it since it is a neutral stimulus and there is no response.
- This would be the unconditioned stimulus since it occurs naturally. The reaction of the dogs would be the unconditioned response since they get excited when seeing a person or dog. They also know that they will receive a treat for waiting patiently for their owners.
- Once their owners have arrived, the dogs will become happy and greet them
