  • I saw how we were uprooted overnight from our home. I saw things scattered that were dear to me.
  • Jews: Nazi attacked our homes, businesses, and synagogues!!!
  • Deportations
  • Germans treat Jews worse than pigs

  • I have to restrain myself in order not to shout some insults. To be quiet, although my heart is breaking.

  • Today, I will write stories for our underground magazine.
  • The new restrictions, like having furs or aiding Jews, threatened death penalties. All aspects of Jews’ public and private lives were restricted. They had to wear badges to identify themselves as Jews. Nazi Party spread their racist goals and ideals via extensive use of propaganda.
  • Warsaw's armed revolt
  • Jews were rounded up and sent to ghettos. They were loaded in the car which was actually used to transport horses. Along the road, they saw how Germans were shooting Jews for no reason.
  • The Pinar forest
  • Jews lived cut off from the outside world in poverty and filth. They were left dying in the ghettos exposed to terrible hunger, cold, illness, filth, humiliation and despair. It was almost impossible to smuggle food supplies and medicine into the ghetto. Living conditions were abominable.
  • Slave-labor prisons.
  • Annihilation through work!
  • Hunger is intense!!!
  • Jews struggled to keep their traditions. Some formed resistance organizations within the ghettos. Ghetto theaters produced plays and concerts. The musical circles were working. Teachers taught lessons in secret schools.
  • The Auschwitz-Birkenau
  • I would keep records so that one day people would find out the truth!!!
  • In April-May 1943, Jews in the Warsaw ghetto rose in armed revolt. As Germans entered the ghetto, members of the Jews attacked German tanks with Molotov cocktails, hand grenades, and a handful of small arms. The Germans crushed the uprising and left the ghetto area in ruins.
  • Jews:They would deport us to the Treblinka killing center! We need revolt!
  • Thousands of Jews were taken away from ghettos to the Pinar forest where they were shot to death. Jews, mothers and fathers, were killed in front of their children. Children were thrown alive in the ditches where their parents lied stoned to death.
  • The prisoners worked 7d/week as slaves for the German businesses. Guards beat or killed their prisoners for not working fast enough. While at The Sobibor killing center Jewish prisoners began an armed revolt. About 300 escaped. The Germans recaptured about 100 and killed them.
  • The Nazis' extermination camps equipped with huge gas chambers killed 6,000 humans in a day. Victims were told to undress for a shower and then led into a chamber with fake showerheads where cyanide gas was poured from. All inside were killed in a matter of minutes.
