  • He then came into a battlefield.Then the fighting armies have leftbehind a drum and making a noise.

  • Refusal of the Call
  • The treasure is guarded by Fafnir the dragon. He sits upon more gold than you will ever find in one place.
  • Are you trying to help me or kill me? No man alive has the courage to fight Fafnir.
  • Clearly you are no Volsung!
  • I don't deserve to have you call me a coward. I will slay Fafnir.
  • Sigurd doesn't believe he's old enough or experienced enough to leave and fight a dragon no one has ever conquered before.

  • Supernatural Aid
  • The gray horse is the one I will choose.
  • Let us drive the horses into the fast-flowing river. That should test their courage and strength.
  • Odin aides Sigurd to find a courageous and strong horse, and he also gives him his father's sword Gram.

  • Crossing the first Threshold 
  • Reign is thinking about the best way to betray Sigurd. Sigurd should slice Reign's head from his neck.
  • Sigurd kills Fafnir the dragon with his sword. He gains the understanding of the birds' language when he drinks his blood. They say his blood has protective powers.

  • Belly of the Whale
  • Place Andvari's ring on your finger, Sigurd! Then ride to HIndfell, where Brunhild sleeps.
  • Sigurd kills Reign and drinks the blood from both brothers and some of Fafnir's heart. He then sets out to Hindfell to wake the Valkyrie Brunhild.
