  • HONEY! The baby is kicking very hard right now! I feel like it is ready to come out!
  • YAY my little baby sissy is here!!
  • OH GREAT! LET'S GO GET HER CHECKED UP!!
  • In this situation, the mother was pregnant and she felt the baby kicking inside which tells her that the baby is alive and well. At this time, the baby was kicking very hard she fees lots of painful contraction so she suggested they go get her check out as she can no longer bear the pain.
  • When the baby is kicking, there is muscle contraction in the uterus which increases the pressure, and this is positive feedback.
  • The oxytocin hormone produced by the endocrine system causes the uterus to contract. As a result, the nervous system experiences pain. Instead of lowering the oxytocin and making the pain go away, more oxytocin is produced until the contractions are severe enough to deliver the baby.
  • Positive feedback is when the variable intensifies instead, produce more. For example, the pressure and the hormones cause the uterus to contract to release hormones and to cause more contractions and more pressure which helps the baby be born.
  • So overall, homeostasis is how the body reacts to maintain stability, and adjusts to changes around us best for survival.
  • Negative feedback is when some variable triggers a counteracting response in order to come back to a set point. For example, when our body is heating up and feeling hot, our body produces sweat to go back to our normal temperature.
