I Have C. DIff ! What am I gonna do I for sure am Gonna get C. DIff
Isn´t he the one I used to hang out with as a kid?
I´m sorry but I have to go. Your germs will never leave me now!
Aza Holmes, the main character of the story, has OCD which plays into the story as she is always cautious of the harm of bacteria, like C. Diff. Daisy, her best friend , is much more outgoing than Aza, but have stayed together and know each other best.News spreads of a teacher missing , Mr. Pickett, after being accused of fraud and bribery. The police have a reward of $100,000 to whomever finds him
The two decide to look for Mr,Pickett, and go through a river that runs in between Azas and Mr. Pickett'sHome to get Information. There they are stopped by a securityguard that takes them to Davis, the eldest son of Mr.Pickett. Later on, Aza and Davis start to reconnect. Once grouped together in Daviss home, he tell daisy and aza of a photo he has of his father. Davis gives the reward to the two in fear they will tell the police
Whats that smell???
Aza and Davis start to unofficially date. Aza leans in for a kiss and afterword fears of all of Davis'sdifferent germs that entered her body. Around this time, Daisy is fully engulfedin the reward money, spending it on cars and a new laptop. Daisy and Aza fight becauseof this and Daisy admits that being with Aza is too much work.
During the fight, their car crashes, leaving daisy unharmed and Aza with lacerated liver. Aza must stay in the hospital for a few days, which frightens her to the thought of how many germs there are. She thoughts go into a spiral and has herself believe the only way to be clean is to drink hand sanitizer, making her vomit.
Its so dirty in here! I´m surrounded by germs! There´s only one way to clean myself...
After begin released out of the hospital, Aza and daisy meet at an art show, and both begin to walk down a sewer. Daisy explainsto Aza how anxiety has affected her life and their friendship. While talking, they smell something foul, and realize that Mr. Pickett'sbody was floatingin the sewers.
There are several themes in the story pertaining to, wealth, power, control, and persistence. Withthe reward and Davidswealth in mind, money seems to be a problem and turns even Daisy, who previously poor, have a change of personality. Azas OCD comes into play throughoutthe whole story, in how she tries to control the world around her, but ultimately is stuck inside her own hell (the hospital with plenty of germs). My overall opinion is that its a good book the depicts how you cant control everything.
