  • Hey do you know what were the two types of societies throughout the Southeast Asia?
  • There are the agricultural societies, whose economies were largely based on farming. There are the trading societies which depended primarily on trade for income.
  • What expanded after the emergence of states in the region? 
  • As the wealth increased so did the demand for spices.
  • What is the biggest trade commodity in this area?
  • Demand fore spices went up and added to the volume of trade. Wealth of europe and Southeast asia increased, demand grew for the products of East Asia.

  • Angkor ruling class fled to the south east, when they set up an new capital near Phon Pehn, the capital of present-day Campodia. The Thair first appeared in China. Burmese people founded the first great burmese state, The Kingdom of Pagon.

  • What were the roles of women in this society
  • Most societies in Southeast Asia gave greater rights to women than did their counterparts in China and India. Women worked side by side with men in the fields and often played an active role in trading activities.

  • It was the Temple of Angkor Wat. Which took 40 years to complete.
  • Buddhism spread, Theravada Buddhism spread in Burma.
