  • It's because of radiation. Radiation happens when radiant energy is being transfered through heat waves. Radiation is highly efficient and occurs in all states of matter.
  • I'm too hot from the fire. Let's go sit down by the lake.
  • Cool!
  • Wow, this fire is making my body really hot!
  • Yeah, but why?
  • It's because of conduction. It happens when particles in solids collide with particles in other solids. In this case, the heat conductor, the fire, is giving heat energy to the heat insulator, your clothes.
  • Thanks for teaching me all of that.
  • Cool!
  • It's because of convection. There is a convection current in the water, which causes particles in fluids, which are liquids and gases, to move in a unique cycle that involves both hot and cool air.
  • Cool!
  • I'm too cold now. Let's go back to the fire.
  • Wow, look at how that plant can go down the lake without someone guiding it.
  • Yeah, but why?
  • At first, my body was really warm. Now it's as if my clothes are burning.
  • Yeah, but why?
