- Louis XIV spent too much money for the wars which put them in debt. As a result, taxes were increased.
- I know! What have they done that forced them to raise taxes?
- Man! Have you seen these taxes?
- Why did I spend THAT much?
- Why are we so heavily in debt...

- Napoleon had many troops which intimidated council members forcing them to leave
- Napoleon had a highly respected reputation during the French Revolution which is how he gained power. In 1799, Napoleon overthrew the French Directory government and made reforms like a higher education system, a bank, and law codes.
- Ok! Just don't hurt us.

- In the storming of the Bastille, a huge mob of Parisians strongly stormed in the fortress, which they then seized the Bastille's gunpowder and released the seven prisoners that were confined in the fortress. This was a symbol of the despotism of the Bourbon monarchy.
