  • MORAL OF THE STORY Knives and axes flash like day, Harsh words, however, always stay.
  • The tiger came out and said “ Don’t be frightened, old man. You are old, but you still work very hard. Rest for a while and let me do all your work.” The old man didn’t know it could talk. He was confused.
  • This continued for weeks. The old man rested under a tree meanwhile the tiger was working. The next day the tiger came and helped the old man again. The tiger was resting his head on the old man and was asking him good questions of himself. The old man said “yes” for everything and the tiger replied “Ah I have all the graces” but the old man said “Yes, but you have one fault. Your skin stinks. You are in fact very smelly. So if you don’t mind, can you take your head off my lap? My wife will kick me out of the house if I smell like you!” The tiger went and got an axe. “Take this axe old man. Hit me on the back.” “Oh no! I can not hurt you!” The tiger growled and said “But I want you to.” The old man hit the tiger on the back. Blood spurted out and the tiger ran into the woods. The old man took his chopped wood to the market and went. Time went by and then one day the tiger suddenly jumped and said “look at my back, old man.” “It is healed!” The tiger replied “ Yes, The wound has healed but your harsh words will always stay in my heart. That can never be healed . I will always remember what you said about my stinking skin. You must now leave the forest or I shall eat you up!” And with that he gave an enormous roar.

One day when the tiger was lying on the old man’s lap asking him positive questions about himself and when the old man kept on replying ‘yes’ the tiger said “Ah I have all the graces” and the old man said “ Yes, but you have one fault. Your skin stinks. You are very smelly. If you don’t mind can you get out of my lap? If I come home with this smell my wife will never let me in the house. “
