  • First major battle and started the American Revolutionary War. No one knows who shot first, but historically it is called “The Shot Heard Around The World.” The soldiers and colonists were involved. This happened in 1775
  • Winter at valley forge
  • The declaration of independence was when the US declared independence. They declared independence against the King and other things. important part of American democracy because first it contains the ideals or goals of our nation. Was signed in 1776
  • Battle of Yorktown
  • The Battle of Saratoga occurred in September and October, 1777. It included two crucial battles, fought eighteen days apart, and was a decisive victory for the Continental Army and a crucial turning point in the Revolutionary War. It was a turning point because France decided to set up an alliance with the US.
  • Treaty of Paris
  • on December 19, 1777-1778 they were suffering not only from cold, hunger, and fatigue, but from low morale in the wake of the disastrous Philadelphia Campaign. Here the Continental Army, a collection of disparate colonial militias, emerged under Washington's leadership as a cohesive and disciplined fighting force.
  • The british had to surrender because they did not have boats to cross the ocean. This was the last major battle of the American Revolution and ended the American Revolution.This happened in 1781
  • In 1783, the Treaty of Paris was signed by King George lll of Great Britain and the representatives of the United States of America. This Treaty officialy ended the American Revolution.
