- Why don’t I go on a little walk through the woods back of the barn?
- “All right. Take what you want and go on out, but not off our hill, do you understand?”
- “What would you say if I asked you to make ahickory nut pie?”
- “I would say that you might expect something of the kindbefore long.”
- The first suspense was when Annabelle was taking clothes and things for someone which made it exciting to see who she was giving them to.
- Another one was when she asked her mom if she could go walk through the woods and around the barn taking her lunch with her. but she was actually taking it to toby
- Another suspense happened when she asked her mom for a hickory nut pie just because toby said that he liked it a lot which made it interesting to see if it was actually going to be for toby or not.Also when he smiled when he took a bite into the bread roll that had butter inside.
- Another suspense was when Toby let Anabelle cut his hair which was really surprising because he was going to look different.Then they were going to cut his beard but then the dinner bell rang so toby had to do it.
- Surprising suspense was when toby looked down from the loft which made Anabelle happy to see that toby wasn't scared of heights that much.
- The biggest suspense was all over the chapter because she didn't tell anybody that toby was in the barn even tho she said she couldn't hold it in anymore and just wanted to tell her mother and the people trying to find betty.
