"In time past Utnapishtim was a mortal man; henceforth he and his wife shall live in the distance at the mouth of the rivers."
Utnapishtim used to be the king of Shurrupak, and the people used to be very loud which angered the gods. They then cursed all living creatures in the city.
But Ea warns Utnapishtim beforehand and advises him to make a boat and take his family and flee. While the flood carried on for 6 days and 6 nights,
Enlil then is surprised after seeing Utnapishtim and his family survived the horrendous storm. He blesses him and his wife with immortality.
Go now, banished from the shore.
Utnapishtim then turned to Gilgamesh and states that if he wants this everlasting life, he should stay awake for six days andseven nights but he's already fallen asleep.
Utnapishtim and his wife then bake bread for the next 6 days and 7 nights to prove to Gilgamesh how long he actually did sleep, once he wakes up.
Once Gilgamesh wakes up, Utnapishtim banishes Urshanabi and tells him to take Gilgamesh back to Uruk. They also stop on the way to get cleaned up and Gilgamesh takes the "The Old Men Are Young Again" potion for the people of Uruk but it gets destroyed, leaving Gilgamesh upset.
