You have to be there for her. No, don't cry, don't.
It's the same thing, Katniss.
You can hunt.
Katniss volunteering for Primrose shows that she is extremely selfless and puts the needs and safety of others in front of her own.
Are you kidding!? She's absolutely amazing!
Are you any good?
While saying goodbye to her family, Katniss didn't cry, instead she comforted her younger sister and made her mother promise to take care of Primrose. She showed supreme strength by not crying and by comforting her sister.
Do you have any advice for us?
What?! That's it?!
Hm, yeah. Don't die.
While saying goodbye to her best friend, Katniss tells him she doesn't believe she has a chance at winning. She confesses to him that she's afraid and nervous, and made him promise he'd keep her family alive. This shows Katniss has a weakness, her family being left to die and having to kill others.
When confronted by Haymitch about her skills with a bow, she tells him she's alright when really she's fantastic. Peeta proves it when he explains how she always shoots the squirrel in the eye. This shows Katniss is humble.
Immediately, Katniss and Peeta wanted to start talking strategy, but Haymitch wasn't for it. When Peeta asked for advice, they were told: "Try not to die." Katniss is a hothead, and immediately got upset with Haymitch. This could be looked at as a disadvantage and an advantage. She makes snap decisions without much thought.
Since her father died when she was twelve years old, she's been out hunting in the woods, which is illegal, to keep her family alive. Katniss will do anything to keep her family alive, including things that could get her killed. She determined to keep her family alive and okay. Determination is an excellent skill to have.
