- After a few days of staying in the church, Dally comes back and takes them to get some food. They didn't expect to come back to a ball of fire. The church was on fire and their were kids inside. Johnny was severely injured and left paraplegic.
- Since forever, there's always been conflict between Soc's and Greasers. The Soc's were described as "White trash with Mustangs and Madras", while greasers are "White trash with long hair."
- One day after a movie, two greasers, Johnny and Ponyboy, ran away and got themselves into some trouble.... they ended up killing a soc. However, the soc was trying to drown ponyboy.
- Shortly afterwards though, Johnny died whispering the quote, "Stay gold," to Ponyboy. Johnny's death made Dally want to rob a store, just so he'd get shot by aiming a gun full of blanks at a police officer.
- Scared, the two boys go to their other greaser friend, Dally, who gives them the address of an abandoned church to go to to get away from the fuzz.
- The same night, there was a "rumble" or a fight for territory between the socs and greasers. The greasers fought hard and ended up winning.
