Storyboard Text

  • Wide shot (tripod) of Emily drawing in the park. (Shotin either St James' park or Hyde Park)
  • Mid shot of the ducks on the lake from Emily's POV. Camera (on stabiliser)moving a bit - like an omniscient eye
  • Closeup shot over Emily's shoulder of herdrawing the ducks/scene from previous shot (tripod)
  • (background still the same, this is just a better representation of the angle). Mid shot eye level with Emily who is sitting on the bench turned towards us (still looking at her drawing). As we see Chloe walking around in the background, the camera shifts focus on to her. (tripod, stabiliser if possible)
  • Chloe walks over and sits down behind Emily. Emily looks over at her but then turns away, looking stonily ahead. We move in a bit closer to the two of them. (puts drawing on lap)
  • Chloe tells Emily that her estranged/their dad has died and tries to convince her to go to the funeral - they argue as Emily doesn't think Chloe understands how hard it would be for her to see her family after 2 years of no contact. During argument she puts drawing down defiantly.
  • Chloe's key line that stops Emily's hostility - "mum is struggling. Losing you was bad enough, but losing dad..." It taps into Emily's fear that she was just being selfish by leaving and harmed her family further. Close up of Chloe on stabiliser (maybe even handheld) camera pans slowly a bit to the right, eventually cutting Emily out of the frame
  • As Chloe says her key line, it cuts to Emily's reaction and her turning round to face Chloe. Her fear that her mum is struggling is confirmed. This is the first time we see them both looking at each other since Emily ran away earlier in the film. (tripod) Emily realises the damage she has done (closeups of both of their faces)
  • Closeup of Chloe's face as we go into the flashback that is triggered by 'losing you was bad enough' - dissolve transition and different colour grading to show it is a flashback.
  • We see Chloe's perspective of Emily leaving, which we saw in the present earlier in the film but from Emily's perspective which was following her down the stairs. Emily does a double take at Chloe before leaving when Chloe tells her not to go.
  • Chloe crumples to the floor with grief as Emily leaves (we haven't seen this before as previously in the film we followed Emily out of the door), - high angle shot, handheld
  • Chloe walks up the stairs to her parents' room - blurry effects and camera on stabiliser - dream like. She doesn't believe it is real. We follow her over her shoulder
  • Looking over her shoulder at her shouting (but silent to us) parents. The camera pans around her, cutting out her parents. Reaches her face as she tells them Emily has left
  • high angle shot of her parents noticing Chloe, hearing what she said, stopping arguing and turning towards the camera/Chloe
  • Fades into another
  • Hug - from em's pov (still sitting on the bench)
  • hug from chlo's pov
  • hug from birdseye view.
